My visit to the GP
I eventually went to the doctor upstairs to have my wounded right toe looked at. The doctor (or Happy Doctor as we dubbed her, as she's always cheerful when greeting us before consultation) did asked me how did I sustain this injury and when did it happen. I supplied her with the answers to her question. Next she said she's going to *use a needle to release some fluids*
She wasn't kidding when she produced a thick needle (for syringes, I think) and asked her assistant to get some gauze for her. Now she asked me to sit properly and did not tell me to relax. There was no anaesthetic applied. She began to drill the top of my toe nail with the tip of the needle. Slowly slowly... At this point, I was sick with constant anticipation, anticipating the moment when the needle bores through the toe nail and into the flesh underneath it. It didn't take long when the needle punctured the flesh and bring crimson blood started pouring out. I nearly lost my lunch. The doctor, sensing my obvious body spasm when the needle went through asked me if it hurt. I could only reply with a nausea-coated "...o-k...".
She then proceeded to gently squeeze out all the fluids that have been building up under the toe. When that was done, she made 2 more holes into my toe and repeating the process of squeezing out the waste fluids. At the end of the ordeal, I was given a course of antibiotics so that my toe won't get infected and some painkillers. No candy, though. But I think I preferred the painkillers more.
Today, my toe feels better and I don't have to walk with a limp or deal with the messiness when the yucky liquids flow out. I am glad I went to the doctor and can't wait for my toe to fully recover!
I managed to keep my lunch in my stomach.
